Following the religious teaching of Christianity and Islam, which have traditionally condemned usury as the fundamental source of social injustice, he defines usury as the unequal allocation of risk. He offers practical proposals as to how usury may be reduced or eliminated, showing that the solution to each crisis depends on solving the others.

The Good Book Stall

This book was a surprisingly interesting read. Although the title uses the word 'usury' which feels rather Shakespearean to me, it was a thoroughly up-to-date look at the financial crisis, taxation levels and global warming - which the author believes are all related to usury. His definition of usury is a transaction between two parties where the risk is not equally shared and believes that this is the root of most of society's ills. In this short book he expands on this theme with examples from Judaism, Christianity and Islam as well as plenty of evidence from recent history and from thinkers through the centuries.   
The book is a call to those of whatever political persuasion or religion to unite to oppose usury. Some of his suggestions with regard to banking, healthcare and green initiatives were interesting. Overall the book was a good read but I am unsure whether his audience will ever have the power to do anything about the problems he addresses.
