Tom Wright recently resigned as Bishop of Durham to take up a new appointment as Research Professor of New Testament and Early Christianity at the University of St Andrews. He is a regular broadcaster on radio and television. Tom Wright is the author of over forty books, including the other For Everyone guides to the New Testament, the best-selling Simply Christian, Surprised by Hope, and Virtue Reborn; and the magisterial series entitled Christian Origins and the Question of God.

As with the other books in the For Everyone series of Bible commentaries, this book dealing with Revelation is a good blend of informal style 'chat' with solid biblical discourse, the blending of the two styles really illumines the text and provides a For Everyone commentary that has depth with real day application making it a fantastic study tool for those new to the bible and for those well acquainted with the bible.   
These commentaries bridge a gap between those studying the bible for devotional reasons and those studying it for more practical understanding and thus it's uses for personal study, group study or as a preachers companion aide are enhanced. This one in particular deals with what is surely one of the more complex and confusing of the books of the NT, Revelation, in a way that is accessible, insightful, helpful and interesting. The conversational style of the commentary really helps to guide one through the complexity of Revelation in a gentle and yet not simple way. The hard issues are dealt with, the comparisons between the Old and New elements of the Testaments clearly articulated and the sense of relevance and revelation clearly exposed. An excellent guide to a difficult book and a fitting addition to the For Everyone series.
