Revd Dr Sandra Millar is children's officer for the Diocese of Gloucester where she inspires and supports parishes in their work with children and families. She organizes training events and opportunities and has written a range of worship materials (Resourcing Easter, Christmas, etc) which have proved very popular. She was previously vicar in the Dorchester-on -Thames team ministry and a curate in Barnet.

This book will recap the basic principles of structuring and delivering all-age worship well covered in the first book. It will also include ideas about using festivals to build relationships with the community. It will also explore the idea of involving children and young people on occasions which have traditionally been less 'child-friendly', e.g. Good Friday.

A joy of a book, which even before the real beginning of the material gives a verbal framework which can be used for all worship: "creative ways of hearing God's story that open up the possibility of encounter with his love".  
  
What follows is accessible, possible but not "dumbed-down" worship; it is worship for whoever is there as Sandra Millar says. Her ideas can be used as detailed or be adapted for local circumstances such as building type and size, congregational age-range and availability of leaders. Preparation is stressed, as is rehearsing readings, drama etc., for as the author says, we rehearse for a wedding to make sure it goes smoothly and those taking part feel at ease, so the same attention should be paid to worship. In Millar's view we are creating "a space of possibilities for encounter" where the congregation can meet with God whatever their age and be involved in worship. A very useful resource for those of us in multi-parish rural ministry in small churches as well as colleagues in larger urban surroundings.
