The Good Book Stall

If you like the Twilight series of books, or actually even if you dislike them, there is no getting away from the fact that they are a bestselling franchise that rather like marmite largely provokes either a love or hate response.   
This book by Elaine Heath is written by a woman who admits to actually liking the books on one level and loathing some of what is in the books on another – especially the explicit and implied subjugation and violence towards women that runs as a theme throughout them. Her analysis and study of these books and the themes in them is interesting, especially the considerations of the religious and spiritual metaphors within them. I think the guide for reflection and discussion at the end of the book certainly would be good to use in a group study or youth group situation – and you could probably get away with having watched the films instead of reading the books for many of them.
