From her own life experience and the promises of scripture, Beth Redman powerfully reminds you that you're never forgotten and forever loved by the God who knows you, calls you by name and longs for you to call on him.

Beth Redman speaks about hope, and how much God wants to give us rest and restoration. However she never mentions heaven! Nothing she says is wrong, per se, but failing to mention that God's rest may not happen this side of the grave is concerning for a book aimed at the suffering. If you are suffering, then turn, repent, receive and be restored. In this life. Presumably if it doesn't happen in this life, something has gone wrong? She doesn't mention that.

"we hope. We draw near. We return. We repent. We receive. Restoration sings".

Yes, that's true, but it might not happen in this life- total restoration comes in the new earth. She fails to mention that.

I initially thought that i would lend the book to friend who is going through terrible suffering, but now I have read it I won't- it would rub salt in the wound of anyone who's suffering is unlikely to end before heaven.

There is a little bit of bible exposition but it's rather woolly. Old testament passages are directly applied to us today as new testament believers, with no mention of how those passages point to Jesus. Her interpretation of Jesus's words "My God, why have you forsaken me?" entirely misses the point that He WAS completely forsaken since he had taken our sins. Beth says he simply felt like it (though he wasn't), even while he was doing God's will- so we can take heart when we feel forsaken too.

Beth has a habit of using many words to make a simple point, going over it and round it a few times. Some people may like that to fully digest what she's saying, but personally I found it annoying- I had to read each section a few times to work out what she was trying to say.

Much of the book was encouraging, as she reminds us of God's personal love and care for us. Unfortunately that makes the whole almost-prosperity-gospel thing more dangerous. It's easy to dismiss something flagrantly wrong- This book is mostly right but with that one very important omission.

This is a book written by someone who was abused as a child/teenager. During this time, both she and her mother were attending the local church.  
The book shows us by quoting many passages from scripture such as John, Joel and Isaiah how God is always able to support us. Beth Redman shows in the book how she learnt to look forward in her life, not looking back at the problems she endured. The book also has a study guide section if people want to study it in a group.  
one thing I will say is the book seemed very much a book written for women rather than for men and women
